Everything... and the Kitchen Sink

Alison Mackay has focused on the curves and colours of stainless steel sinks in some of the new works for her exhibition. She is best known for her still life paintings, which celebrate everyday things, often in unusual or unexpected ways.

"Familiar objects - from food to pharmaceuticals - can take on a different life when you start to see them through somebody else's eyes. When I'm painting, I use the objects around me - that might be a coffee pot, a plastic bag or a packet of painkillers" says Alison, who broke her back some years ago in a horse-riding accident.

"It's all about reflection in this exhibition - the sinks, colanders and other shiny metal surfaces provide visual reflections, whilst the objects that populate these paintings reflect my life."
